I'm a ceramic artist based in South Portland, Maine, creating textural and sculptural pieces for the home. I grew up in coastal Brunswick Maine and began studying ceramics through high school classes and a course at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. I studied ceramics at The Rhode Island School of Design and spent a semester at The AALTO School of Art and Design in Helsinki, Finland, focusing on Ceramic and Glass Design. I graduated from RISD in 2014 with a BFA in Ceramics and continued to focus on my ceramic craft, renting a space from Mad Dog Artist Studios in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. After spending six years in the great state of Rhode Island, I moved home to Maine, where I am currently broadening my functional and sculptural ceramic practice.

My work is inspired by landscapes and plant life, which I express through glazing and surface techniques. I focus on reworking wheel thrown and hand built forms to create textural surfaces. In my tableware lines I focus on layering glazes to create rustic mountain scenes and dreamy blue beach tones. As a life-long New Englander, I recently set out on a month long road trip to explore the landscapes of the South West. Seeing cacti and succulents in their natural atmosphere has inspired my work greatly and has pushed me to explore textural and sculptural surface techniques. Through a combination of wheel throwing and hand building, I can stay connected to my sculptural roots, creating work that is both functional and unique.
